How common is shock loss after hair transplant

Hair restoration surgery is the best way for reversing the effects of male pattern baldness. It is the only permanent solution as the new hair that grow stay. Since the procedure is invasive in nature, it does have some side effects as well. These are mainly temporary in nature and once the person has made full recovery from the surgery, they are all gone.
Shock Loss
This is a term that is often heard when a discussion takes place on the subject of hair restoration. It refers to a certain hair loss that occurs after a hair transplant has taken place. It is possible both most commonly used hair transplant procedure, the Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) as well as the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
There are two kinds of hair losses after a transplant takes place. One is known as shedding while the other one is shock loss. There are subtle differences in the two of them.
Shedding vs. Shock Loss
The newly transplanted hair in the bald areas typically will fall away in two to five weeks’ time. This paves way for the new, stronger hair to grow. This process can take up to 12 to 18 months. Shock loss takes place in healthy hair either in the donor or transplant site.  This generally takes place due to the sudden trauma the skin goes through due to a hair transplant.
In most cases the hair loss is temporary. However, if the follicles are already miniaturized, such loss may be a permanent one. Much depends on how well a job the doctor has done during the transplant procedure as shock loss can be greatly reduced based on it. Grafting hair in too close a proximity can sometimes damage the healthy follicles in the area and cause shock loss.
How common is the shock loss?
Shock loss after hair transplant is quite common and takes place to some extent in most cases. The scalp goes through a major event and it is its way to react to it. Mostly, the hair loss is temporary and within a few months, these hair are back.
Shock loss is more common amongst females in comparison with males. To minimize its effects, person undergoing a hair transplant should fully follow the instructions given by the hair transplant surgeon.

Kevin Costner Hair Transplant

Action genre is big in movies all over the world. Hollywood probably has mastered the art of making such movies more than anyone else. When it comes to the rugged leading men in Hollywood, Kevin Costner is one of the top names in the industry.
The 59-year-old has been in the movie business for over three decades now and has carried his macho and somewhat brash persona along the way. The actor has mesmerized the audiences in movies like The Untouchables, Water World and the Bodyguard.
Kevin his maintained his rough and tough look all throughout his career with little change. With his adrenaline filled action, that is exactly the kind of appearance one needs to have. Even though a touch older now, Kevin continues to do action movies. To his credit, he has maintained his health quite well and is still fit for such kind of roles.
A few years back, Costner had been greatly affected by male pattern baldness and had lost most of his front hair. A significantly receded hairline does not look well with a gun slinging action hero and he understood it quite well. He needed to act in order to ensure that the problem did not affect his career in an adverse manner.
At around the age of fifty, the actor went ahead with his hair restoration procedure. It is speculated that he had mini and micro grafts. The transplant was a success and it appeared as if Costner had turned the age clock backwards. Since then, Kevin has starred in many movies and his new look has been amazing.
Although some critics feel that the transplant was a bit drastic and may have been overdone, for most of his fans it seems to be fine. In fact, most see it as a welcome change to the appearance of their favorite action hero.
If you too are suffering from hair fall and feel a bit dampened because of it, there is always an option to get a hair restoration surgery. It is the in thing nowadays and Kevin Costner is just one of the many who have undergone the procedure to get their younger looks back.

How do they do hair transplants?

Everyone seems to love looking good. Tons of options are now available of all kinds to look better than before with all the cosmetic procedures now available. There are many options that one can exercise to improve appearance.
Hair transplant has been a relatively recent arrival to the scene and it has taken the world by a storm. Men particularly all over the world are getting hair transplants to get their locks and youthful looks back, naturally. Gone are the days when they needed strange toupees or unnatural wigs to cover their bald heads.
Ever wonder how do they do hair transplant? It’s quite an interesting question with an even more interesting answer. There are a number of procedures that are being employed currently but the basis of all of them are more or less the same.
Assessment
Your hair transplant surgeon assess which procedure is most likely going to work for you and how many grafts should be done. It is also considered to how to give the new pattern of hair the most natural look.
Precautions
The doctor may give you some medications to help the procedure to be a success. Certain precautions such as not smoking and drinking prior to the surgery are also taken as they affect the chances of transplant’s success.
The Hair Extraction
The hair follicles are taken from the donor sites which are the back and the side of the head. The hair from these areas are able to resist the effects of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that causes hair loss in both men and women.
These may be cut out in form of strips in case of Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) or extracted with a punch like mechanism in case of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The procedure takes place with local anesthesia being used though in some cases, general anesthesia may also be used.
The follicles are placed in a controlled environment until they are transplanted. The hair in case of FUT, also known as the strip method are cut into groups of 4-6 hair. In case of FUE, the hair are extracted in small groups and do not need to be further divided.
The Transplant
To place the grafts, small incisions are made with the help of a needle or scalpel by the surgeon. The procedures takes place under local anesthesia. A single graft is placed in each of these incisions. Depending on the number of grafts, the procedure can take several hours.

The Aftermath
There is expected swelling after the surgery. Medications are to be taken to ensure quick recovery and minimum ill effects such as an infection. The total time for recovery varies with procedures with FUT taking a longer time than FUE.

3 ways to cure baldness
Are you seeking an effective treatment to stop hair loss and even, possibly, reverse it? You are not alone; according to the American Hair Loss Association, 70% of men will experience male pattern baldness by the age of 35. This does not mean that women enjoy a full head of hair throughout their lives. Women also get affected by alopecia hair loss, making up 40% of the world’s two-third population suffering from alopecia.
However, the good news is that baldness is no more an irreversible problem. There are a number of treatments available that help reduce hair loss, and some of them encourage new hair growth as well.
The three most commonly used ways to stop hair loss and cure baldness are:
1.       Diet and Supplements
2.       Medications
3.       Hair Transplant
Diet and Supplements
One most common cause of hair loss is deficiency of essential vitamins in your body. If this is the case, you can significantly reduce hair loss by incorporating whole foods in your daily meals. If you believe you are not maintaining the right levels merely through diet, then you can also take supplements. Biotin is a very good supplement prescribed to not only prevent excessive hair loss but also to spark hair growth in the balding areas. However, it is highly recommended to discuss with your doctor before taking biotin supplement.
Iron is also essential for your hair growth as well as for the overall health of your hair. You can incorporate iron in your diet primarily by consuming green leafy vegetables. Cashews, figs, berries and leeks are also good sources of iron. You can also cover iron deficiency by adding supplements to your diet.
Medications
In addition to nutritional remedies, you could also try oral and topical medications to combat hair loss and baldness. There are a number of over the counter as well as prescription medicines available to help you control hair fall. In addition to creams and serums, medicated shampoos and conditioners are also available to help alopecia patients regrow lost hair.
If your hair loss is excessive, and you are not satisfied with the results of natural remedies and medications, then surgical hair transplant may be best for you. Hair Transplantation involves taking hair follicles from bald resistant areas, back or sides of the scalp (donor areas) and relocating them on the balding areas (recipient area). It is a resulted oriented procedure that gives guaranteed solution to baldness, and since the transplanted hair are taken from bald resistant areas of the scalp, they will stay on your head for long.
